Whoa Black Betty, bam-ba-lam, Yeah Black Betty, bam-ba-lam…
I spotted a beer called Red Betty IPA, and with the song lyrics coursing through my veins, I purchased the bomber, knowing nothing about it. Not only does Red Betty remind me of Ram Jam, it had a super cool label. Like Betty Page on a bicycle. I poured it into a chilled pint glass, given the hot weather. I drank it under the wonderful Seattle sun. Red Petty IPA is brewed by Central City Brewers out of…wait for it…Canada! We don’t see a lot of IPA’s from Canada in these parts. To further complicate matters, this beer is reminiscent of English IPA. Meaning it has a little more malt profile. There is a nice hit of hops, resin and a wee bit of citrus. It’s got big flavor, and is complex, and earthy. It fits the label if that makes sense! It goes down well, is refreshing a flavorful, and I felt glamorous drinking it. Cheers!
